Clare McEwan is a textile artist working with a variety of traditional and digital processes. Her work is an exploration of material, surface, shape and layer to build abstract and tactile compositions. Clare's work consists of a series of constructed textile wall pieces.

Clare studied textile design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and graduated with First Class Honours in 2003. She has been working as a freelance designer, investigating the use of digital photography and print media within textiles, producing large-scale textile hangings for interiors. In 2004 she secured a commission for a health clinic in the Emirates Towers, Dubai. She has also had solo and group shows throughout the South of England.

In 2005, Clare was selected for the Arts Council South East Setting Up Scheme, where she held a Digital Artist Placement with Waddesdon Church of England School, Buckinghamshire. The placement has enabled dedicated studio time and valuable art education experience. Clare carries out various workshops with both Primary and Secondary schools, leading experimental photography, digital art and printmaking projects. A development of this educational work is the Virtual Residency project which started in Autumn 2007 and will continue through to this Spring 2008. In collaboration with Waddesdon School, Clare is leading online workshops from her studio in Dartford, Kent.
