Old Trafford Community School, Textile project, July 2008 This primary school commissioned a textile hanging to fill a large wall space above the stage in the school hall. The brief was to bring various elements of the school and its community together in a vibrant and collaborative visual artwork. Clare worked with six classes in year groups 3-6, looking at different techniques and subject matter for each class. Areas covered included painted and stitched portraits, fabric drawings from around the school building, fabric dye washes, mono printing based on student drawings, designing and making an individual graffiti/logo tag. All these components were patch-worked together in vertical lines, with the final piece measuring 3m x 2.2m. |
