Thurgoland Primary School, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, Textile Project, May 2008 Clare worked on a short project with Thurgoland Primary School in Barnsley, West Yorkshire to build a collaborative textile hanging with year groups 1-4 on the theme of cultural textiles. This work was commissioned to hang in the school corridor and measures 2m x 2m. Clare allocated various stages of the work to different year groups including; fabric dying, printing, embroidery, painting and construction. Students were inspired by different textile designs from across the world, mimicking the colour, design and techniques used. Each student’s artwork was arranged in clusters to build a low relief fabric map of the world, with continents represented by different patterns. |
